Brainbow™ Emotional Regulation Tool

$59.00

Help your child understand big feelings and learn what to do with them.

Brainbow™ is a simple, hands-on emotional regulation tool that helps children recognise how they're feeling, communicate what they need and choose a practical strategy to help their brain.

How it works

Children learn to ask:

💜 How am I feeling?
💚 What does my brain need?
🌈 What can I do?

They move the pieces, choose a Brain Essentials strategy, take action and check in again.

Instead of simply telling a child to “calm down”, Brainbow™ helps teach them how.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the Interactive Board best for?

It can be used with any child, but it is particularly helpful for children who become easily overwhelmed, worry, need longer to regulate, struggle with disappointment or frustration, or benefit from visual and hands on support.

How is the Brainbow Interactive Board different from a feelings chart?

A feelings chart usually stops at “How do I feel?” The Brainbow goes further. Children identify how they’re feeling, choose how they want to feel, then choose an action they can take to help their brain move towards feeling safe and settled. It teaches them what to do with the information.

Do I use the Brainbow Interactive Board during a meltdown?

It depends on your child. If they’re highly overwhelmed or reactive, that may not be the moment for lots of questions or problem solving. The Brainbow can be introduced once they have enough capacity to engage with it. With practice, children learn to recognise their state earlier and begin using the process more independently.

Why does the Brainbow Interactive Board use moveable Velcro pieces?

Because this resource is designed to be physically used, not simply looked at. Choosing, moving and attaching the pieces gives children something purposeful to do while they work through the process. For some children, the tactile interaction and familiar Velcro sound can become part of the calming routine.

Will my child eventually be able to do this without the Brainbow?

That’s the goal. The Brainbow provides the structure while children are learning. With repetition, the questions begin to become internal: How am I feeling? What do I need? What could I do? That growing awareness and independence is exactly what we’re trying to build.
