Frequently asked questions

What age is My Amazing Brain for?

The book is designed primarily for children aged 4 to 10 years. Younger children will need more help from an adult, while older children can increasingly choose and complete activities independently. The lovely part is watching that shift happen over time.

Will I need to buy lots of equipment or supplies for My Amazing Brain?

No. The activities were deliberately designed for real family life. Most use things you already have at home or can find around you, such as paper, pencils, cushions, music, sticks, stones, leaves and, most importantly, your own bodies and imaginations. You shouldn’t need an expensive trip to the craft shop before you can begin.

Do I need to prepare the My Amazing Brain activities beforehand?

Usually, no. Most are designed to be opened and started with very little fuss. Some activities require a few basic ingredients or materials, but there are plenty you can choose when you want something to do right now.

Is My Amazing Brain a book my child does independently?

It can become one, but that isn’t really where the magic starts. My Amazing Brain was designed to encourage adults and children to do things together. When children are younger, you’ll often be the one suggesting the activity and getting things started. As they grow, they begin choosing activities, adapting them and returning to favourites themselves.

Will we actually use all 84 activities in My Amazing Brain?

Maybe. Maybe not. And you absolutely don’t need to! This isn’t a checklist to complete. Some activities might happen once, while others will become favourites you repeat for years. Those are the real wins: when cloud watching, nature art, movement games or Aroma Dough stop being an activity from the book and simply become something your family does.

My child already does lots of activities. Do we need My Amazing Brain as well?

This isn’t about adding more scheduled activities to childhood. Quite the opposite. The ideas encourage the things growing humans naturally need more of: movement, connection, nature, creativity, music, mindfulness and play. Think less entertaining and organising, more giving children great things to do with their bodies, brains and the world around them.
